The Germani Speedway

So just to give anyone who might be interested (which I am sure many of you have better things that you should be doing) I thought I would give you a glimpse into our mornings, afternoons, evenings..pretty much whenever we are on the main level of our home....

So..never a dull moment in this household..and yes, I do realize that poor Roman is in mismatched pajamas and mismatched socks (might as well go all out)...second child syndrome...I never would have let that happen with Rocco..but you get over it eventually with the 2nd one..or at least I did...and now the poor kid is lucky if anything matches...he doesnt help himself either as I have to chase him down to get anything on him in the first place..somedays he lucky if he has clothes or even a diaper on at all..

Great Country Farms Strawberry Festival

Recap of our day at the farm...

We saw NO strawberries because they were picked out on the FIRST DAY!!

We attempted this adorable picture even though both children pretty much refused to cooperate..john even rigged up the camera on our stroller to capture the magical moment that never was.

We climbed to the top of the tire tower..as you can notice in the one picture this was just after we took on one of the big tubular slides that left half of my rear end muddy..the things we do for our children..

note the nice muddy spot...

We (the parents-obviously and in all honesty-mostly me) thought it would be very educational for Rocco to partake in this fun exercise of searching for precious gems in a 5 dollar bag of dirt...to date, I am still not sure why we thought this was a good idea...for starters he had more fun splashing the water everywhere and on innocent bystanders than the desire to see how much "Rose quartz" was in his pile of dirt..and I can think of a lot more useful things to do with 5 dollars...

The famous "cow train" ride that Rocco was begging to ride the entire time we were there..Roman was so tired by this point that I had to keep checking to make sure he was not comatose.

This was mommys favorite thing to do at the farm, my excitement and glee did not transfer to anyone else in the group as Rocco proceeded to scream "I WANT OFF MOMMY!!" someday I hope one of my children will enjoy jumping on the giant pumpkin pillow with me...sigh...

More proof that Rocco and Roman would get a lot of use out of a sand box in our back yard..this was a simple pile of sand with a couple of toys in it but it was the funnest thing for them at the park....boys...

This was the giant pit of corn which was actually pretty cool and Rocco thoroughly enjoyed it and could have stayed in it all day I think, Roman was less impressed and was done after a minute..which was good because I later read that children under 3 were not permitted....I'll try and do better next time at following the rules...

Rocco posing in the window of the barn..daddy is always trying to do something with his new found knowledge of cameras..

The Bluemont Vineyard was a nice little highlight and a fun trip up the mountain for a nice view of the area...and pretty much the closest we got to the strawberries during the entire Strawberry festival was tasting their Strawberry Wine..which was FABULOUS!!

      The Geo Trax Obsession....

A nice size piece of our basement is "Rocco's" spot of which he has devoted to all things GEO TRAX! Fisher Price, (geniuses really) have introduced the latest edition of toddler "crack". They keep improving it too, so that the child keeps wanting more and more and more...until you have a house full of track and so many pieces you really cant keep track of them (no pun intended).

Rocco is so obsessed in fact that all of his "other toys" are merged into this one to help make a "better track" so that is why in the pictures you see..cardboard blocks, wooden track..matchbox cars..etc..it is utter chaos..but to Rocco he has a plan for everthing and a reason for everything.

...and the sad part of the story is that while all this track building
action is going on, poor Roman is on the outside looking in....poor little guy, always wants to do what big brother is doing but cant quite scale the fence...yet.

      Frying Pan Park

The frying pan park adventure was really fun....because of the tractors. Of course, since our nice big camera is in the shop I just had our point and shoot and it ran out of memory so I only got a very few pictures. Which was rather annoying but oh well.

Rocco was adament (code word for whiny) about going on the big tractor ride...to a point where mommy almost lost it completely..

Looking at all the animals was fun...BUT WHEN CAN WE RIDE THE on the BIG TRACTOR??

Looking at a goat is nice too...BUT WHEN CAN WE RIDE THE BIG RED TRACTOR MOM?!!!!! I want to ride the tractor, I want to ride the tractor, is it time yet?...

This is the point where the nice goat that we were petting..started to eat the wheel of our stroller through the fence and came dangerously close to biting romans cream filled toes...enough!...lets go ride the blasted tractor!!

      Backyard Adventures

As a mom of two boys, I have come to realize that my children will never cease to amaze me and astound me. Just playing in the backyard, Rocco's car transforms into a rocket ship, Roman tempts fate in his own way by continually testing things out to their limits and the slugs living under our drain pipe have literally become our pets. These are just typical events in my life and I enjoy every moment (well, that is not exactly true) I do have moments where I wonder if I should be working because clearly I dont have the patience to deal with the never ending WHY? question even after I have given a good quality answer, and the discipline issue is quite an emotionally exhausting one. All in all though I feel stretched and God is using these little guys to grow me too!
